I have been following the TV programmes concerning the last few days of the European segment of the Second World War.
I have been fortunate in being able to preview the new film "Der Untergang" some weeks before it opens in England.
I have followed closely, Al Murrays re-enactment from D-Day to the "end" and now as the "end" approaches, I am visiting Berlin once more in the exact time slot
, to visit the sites which were part of the final onslaught.
Geoff Waldens website "The Third Reich in Ruins" and Tony Le Tissiers book "Berlin, Then and Now" have been excellent sources of information so I have made copious notes and hope to see as much as possible during the days I spend in Berlin. I have visited some of these sites on previous trips so I will see how much time I really have and use my earlier visits as part of my overall view.
