ANNUAL CONVENTION 10th APRIL to 14th APRIL

COMMEMORATING
THE MAIDEN VOYAGE AND LOSS
OF R.M.S. TITANIC

GUEST OF HONOUR
MISS MILLVINA DEAN

CAN it really be a whole year since the last Convention ?

The Hilton in Southampton was again
the venue for the Annual get-together
and the "passengers and crew" met up
as though we had only left the 2002 session last night !
A lot of fine, old faces and a healthy influx of some new ones,
to fill in where some had decided to miss this year.

FRIDAY

STEVE

BRITISH TITANIC SOCIETY

GEOFF
WHITFIELD

We arrived at the Hilton,
signed in and were given a low profile
single page programme due, as it explained,
to late confirmation of details.
Our name badges were a little "downmarket" too.
I feel the initial presentation is very important
and I must comment that there was no indication
by outdoor signage or entrance "welcome"
as to what convention we were attending !

However, we were promised first rate lectures
and at last a new model of Titanic
following the poor showing of models last year.

The superb scale model,
nineteen feet in length,
as featured in
the Atlantic Daily Bulletin,
Dec 2002,
was constructed by model shipwright
Dipl.-Ing. Peter Davies-Garner
over an eighteen month period,
"sailed" in from Dusseldorf, Germany
and took prime place in the auction room.

After speaking to old and new delegates

we set out for the
Henry Aldridge Auction Marathon
which was timed to start at 2 pm.
