We awoke to a nice sunny, apparently cool morning---I stepped out onto the balcony of the room and felt scorched as the real heat, even at 7 a.m., tried to peel off my skin. I stepped back into the air-conditioned room, steaming, and decided to rethink my morning. We cut through the hotel complex to go for breakfast and enjoyed our first meal in Tunisia immensely. Again, the restaurant was nice and cool, but we were aware of the rising temperature outside. We made our way back to our room and looked at each other. By now, at 9.30 a.m. it was well up into the 80s plus ! However, it is an acceptable heat once you get used to it ! We made our way to the Reps reception where a delightful young lady met us to tell us of all the things to do while we are trying to have a holiday.
Just let me get to the pool !
We are persuaded to visit markets, places of interest and belly dancing shows.

OK then I'm in favour of that !
But where's the pool for heavens sake ?

Trying to compare hotels is hard because the one in Djerba was a major complex and this one in Skanes was a pure hotel. Restaurants and their food were very similar and we enjoyed eating the local fare. The bedrooms were also very similar and were quite luxurious in both cases. If I was required to make a serious comparison I would probably compare their environments.

Djerba is an emerging center which is being developed and everything is absolutely new and sparkling. At Skanes I felt it was a well-used destination, and was a little "tired", needing revamping somewhat.

The hotels in Skanes were huge tower blocks holding hundreds, whereas the Djerba hotels were smaller in capacity and reared up only two or three stories.
